Overview
‘Short Escape to Athirapally and Kumarakom’ is well designed itinerary which gives you the chance to explore the two most stunning places of Kerala. The Athirapally waterfall is a recurring motif in Athirapally which is most rejuvenating and relaxing place. It is located at Thrissur district in Kerala. The waterfall is located at the height of 1000 feet above sea level on the Chalakudy River. Apart from this you will also explore Kumarakom, which is the one of the most popular tourist destination in Kerala. It is renowned for backwater, located on the Vembanad Lake, which is the largest lake of fresh water. The backwater fishing village is indeed a haven, and has had its attractions advertised by some stunning top end resorts by the side of Vembanad Lake. Itinerary
Day 1 : Kochi (Arrival) - Athirapally (By Road - 78 Kilometres) Sightseeing
Upon arrival at the Kochi Airport/ Railway Station in Ernakulum, meet our representative, after welcome, proceed to Athirapally which is renowned as the land of forests, rivers and gorgeous waterfalls.
On reaching at Athirapally, check into the hotel. The rest day is free at leisure, explore the beautiful surroundings of Athirapally at your own, just feel the rhythm of the nations which is spread over the entire region. Athirapally Waterfalls are often called as the Niagara Falls of India. Stay overnight in Athirapally.
Day 2: Arithapally
Today after breakfast, embark on sightseeing tour in and around Athirapally including Vazhachal Waterfalls, Vazhachal Forest Gardens, Charpa Falls and Thumpurmuzhi Gardens. Later, explore the tribal village and trek to the base of the waterfall.
After visiting these places, return back to the hotel. Stay overnight in Athirapally.
Day 3 : Athirapally - Kumarakom(By Road - 110 Kilometres) Sightseeing
Today early morning, enjoy boat sailing in the Periyar Lake. After boating, return back to the hotel, and have your breakfast. After breakfast leave by road for Kumarakom to visit Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary. Protected by a thick cluster of mangroves, the bird sanctuary spread across 14 acres and home to over 180 species of birds. It is best to visit on foot by one and half kilometres on walking trek, where you are likely to spot heron, darters, water duck, waterfowl, owl, cuckoo and Siberian cranes.
Later, check in at the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 4 : Kumarakom - Cochin (By Road - 49 kilometres)
